Playlist: Most Played Songs of 2016

Hi Friends! As 2016 is coming to a close I wanted to share one last Spotify Playlist with you to end the year with a bang. Spotify was kind enough to create a playlist with our top songs of the year and today I am going to share mine with you! I think that this is a great insight as to how someone’s year went, don’t you? Here are the top 10 – you can follow the rest of my playlist here: Most Played Songs of 2016

Safe & Sound – Matthew Mayfield

It’s Alright – Fractures

Green Mountain State – Trevor Hall

California Kids – Weezer

7 Years – Lukas Graham

Tennessee Whiskey – Chris Stapleton

Courtesy Of The Red, White, And Blue – Toby Keith

Portland, Maine – Conovan Woods

Vienna – Billy Joel

Wind In Our Sail – Weezer

Clearly I was into a lot of folk, bluesy country, and alt rock in the year 2016. There are a total of four songs about whiskey, five Weezer songs, and even a little Kanye West. This playlist is kind of a mess the further down the list you go, but that pretty much sums up 2016 doesn’t it?

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year. I’ll see ya in 2017

Merry Christmas & Poinsettia Recipe

Hello Friends! I just wanted to pop in here really quickly and say that I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, Happy Chanukah, or whatever you celebrate! I had a wonderful weekend visiting family in New Jersey eating way too much food and drinking bubbly drinks.

I had to share the super easy/super delicious drink we all had a couple glasses of on Christmas day. My cousin Jennifer let me know that there is actually a name for it – a Poinsettia. How festive! All it consists of is some prosecco and cranberry juice. This may or may not be my drink of choice for the winter. And spring. And summer. I just love bubbles!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend wherever you were, whatever you were doing! All I know is we are probably all feeling that Tuesday morning struggle. Thank God for all the Starbucks gift cards!

The Perfect Cheese Board

Yesterday I shared my top holiday entertaining tips with you. Today I am talking about the thing that is going to bring your holiday party over the edge – the perfect holiday cheese board. I love cheese. I love bread. I love everything that accompanies cheese and bread. Creating a beautiful cheese board is an entertaining art form. So I am going to share my top tips to creating an Instagram worthy cheese plate for your holiday get together.

Variety. It is important to have three or four different varieties of cheese on your board. Make sure you have a good mix of soft, semi soft, and hard cheeses. My favorites to incorporate are Brie, Gouda, Parmesan, and Mozzarella. I typically stay away from the cheddar, but it is by no means a negative. Go for what you and your guests will love!

2 Slice It. If you are serving hard cheeses on your board like Parmesan or Gouda, pre-slice it. If it is not sliced, guests are not going to dig into it. No one wants to be the person awkwardly trying to cut into the cheese on the table.

3 It’s More Than Just the Cheese. Hard to believe, but sometimes the star of the cheese board isn’t the cheese at all, it’s the accompaniments.

4 Don’t Skimp on the Crackers.

Now that I have shared my tips, let’s get into my board shall we? I chose four different cheeses: Mozzarella, Parmesan, Gouda, and Brie and two meats: Prosciutto and Pepperoni. I accompanied the meat and cheeses with blackberry jam, fresh blackberries, olives, cornichons, and artichokes. It’s good to have a nice mix of sweet and savory items on your board.

I also may have eaten half of that board myself… I have no regrets.

Holiday Entertaining Tips

It is the holiday season and that means holiday parties! Whether you are hosting family or friends, planning a get together can be stressful. For those of you that do not know I plan events as my day job, so today I am here to share with you my top Entertaining Tips to get you through the holidays.

entertaining

1 Be clear on expectations. When inviting guests, make sure they know what to expect when attending your get together. If the party is starting around 5pm that is prime dinner time, so guests may expect heavier appetizers so be prepared. If the party starts a little bit later, say 7pm, lighter appetizers and dessert are acceptable. If you do not want guests to bring anything make sure they are aware and aren’t left feeling like they are overstepping.

2 Set the tone. When guests arrive to your event you want them to feel comfortable. If you greet your guests and you are noticeably frantic they will notice. Your energy sets the vibe of the party before the atmosphere does.

3 Create the mood. Once your guests are greeted by your cheerful demeanor the next thing is the atmosphere. Dim the lights, light some candles, and have some music playing to set the mood for the party. Make sure to use one or two similar scented candles and the rest unscented. You do not want the candles to be too overwhelming. Strong scents also mess with your taste buds, so if food is an important component to your party keep it light.

4 Be attentive. When guests arrive, immediately offer them a beverage. It is important to have a variety so have a couple bottles of wine, a couple cold beers in the fridge, at least one type of hard liquor, and some chilled pellegrino water on hand. This way, you are able to accommodate everyone without overdoing it.

5 Have fun. The most important tip is for you to have fun! More often than not the host spends his or her time waiting on everyone. As important as it is to be attentive to your guests needs, you do not want to be over attentive. Do not constantly worry and ask if guests need anything. This goes back to setting the tone with your energy. Your guests are there to have fun with you, so make sure you take some time to sit back and enjoy yourself. You earned it.

Gingerbread Truffles

Today I have a quick and easy recipe that will truly wow your friends at your upcoming holiday party or cookie swap. Each year I come up with a new truffle recipe, and this year I decided to incorporate gingerbread.

Ingredients:

Gingerbread Cookies – I used Ginger Snaps

Cream Cheese

Chocolate – I used both white and milk chocolate

Sprinkles

Method of Prep:

Crush the cookies. If you have a food processor, awesome! If you don’t have one like me, put those bad boys in a ziplock bag and crush them with your cast iron pan until there are no large pieces left. Then mix in the cream cheese until the cookie crumbles and cream cheese are incorporated together. Do not use too much cream cheese – you do not want the mixture to be too wet. Roll the mixture into little balls and place in the freezer for 30 minutes. This will make them easier to dip into the chocolate.

In a double boiler melt your milk or white chocolate. With a toothpick, coat the frozen truffles with the chocolate and lay on a baking sheet. Top with your choice of sprinkle right after dipping. Since the truffles have been frozen the chocolate will cool very quickly. Repeat this process until all of your truffles have been coated. Place in fridge to finish setting the chocolate, and enjoy!

1 PF Candle Company. First of all this Candle Company is called Pommes Frites. Yes, they named their company after french fries. Each candle is made from local wax and oils. They have everything from candles to room sprays and diffusers. They have a bunch of different scents, but the Teakwood & Tobacco is definitely my favorite.

2 Copper Cookware.Okay, I may be a little obsessed with copper everything, but this is the perfect gift for that girl in your life that loves to cook, or that just moved into a new house/apartment and is trying to make it her own

3 Crosley Record Player. For the music lover in your life. I received a Crosley Record Player for Christmas two years ago and I am still in love with it. It is the perfect gift whether you have a vast record collection (like me!) or not.

4 Marble Phone Case. This phone case is marble and gold. It’s just cute enough to actually make me put a case on my phone.

5 Fur Blanket. Winter is coming. Give your favorite girl the gift of warmth with a faux fur blanket. Perfect for nights in cuddling and watching Game of Thrones.

Currently trying not to order all of these things for myself..

Happy Shopping! Gift Guide for the man in your life coming up next.
